In the Dark

// Jan 2019 //

An experimental three day show in a blacked out Cello Factory with The London Group, The Computer Arts Society, The Lumen Prize and friends which we organised.

In the Dark

The Cello Factory, 33-34 Cornwall Rd, Lambeth, London SE1 8TJ
17, 18, 19 Jan, 2-6pm
PV Thurs 17,  6-8pm with performance artists.

The show was a great success with nearly 600 visitors over the 3 days. Which might be a record for the Group. Although with so much work on display the Cello Factory wasn’t that dark, the range of art created an enchanting space with large-scale hangings and intimate electronic pieces.

There are some colourful photos on the Flickr album.
And you can find full information about the 40+ artists involved on The London Group’s website.

20 members of The London Group are involved including collaborative pieces including a 5 person Exquisite Corpse video and some Generative programs by Sandra Crisp & Tim Pickup.

We’re using the full height of the Cello Factory with two striking celestial projections by Angela Eames and lots of hanging sculptures to project upon.

The exhibtion involves two friends of the Group; the Computer Arts Society,who celebrate their 50th anniversary this year, will present networked light boxes, dome projections and stereoscopic sculptures. Computer artist Paul Brown will be projecting a selection of Generative works from all periods of his pioneering career.

The second ‘and friends’ organisation is the  Lumen Prize who will showcase videos by their shortlisted and prize winning artists and have commissioned their student prize winner Ziwei Wu to build a new furry installation.
