Microworld is up and running at Eureka!
Eureka! has won multiple awards in its 25 years and last year had over 300,000 visitors. They’ve teamed up with our friends the Lumen Prize to put on a 6 month show of interactive art in their Spark Gallery. We’ve been given a huge space in the show and are running a 5 screen Microworld, our digital ecosystem project. Also showing are several other artists from the Lumen Prize’s prestigious roster.
We’ve installed the show and met the staff and we’re impressed by their enthusiasm for this new venture adding a little bit more art content to their Play and Learning zones. Interactive art is a natural match for kids’ Museums and we’re looking forward to experience the energy levels generated.
The pieces are all connected through sensors and kinects and add up to our most complete Microworld yet. We also ran drop-ins on the opening weekend teaching some basic digital design and getting the audience to generate their own Animat life forms to be added into the show.
All the pieces have been adapted from existing works making them even more intuitive to engage with. The whole room will run on an RGB cycle – think of a day/night cycle but with 3 colours – changing the whole feel of the room and behaviour of the artificial life forms. The 5 screens are floor to ceiling and the Microworld really immerses people in a dynamic and life like ever changing space.
